Group Tour Itinerary

 

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire Park

We start our group tour  by leaving Arusha in the early morning to legendary Tarangire National Park which is famous for its herds of Elephants and ancient Baobab trees. This park is additionally well known for its high concentration of game and amazing bird life. Other animals to be spotted include leopards, giraffes, zebras, lions, etc. Continue with the group tour game drives until late afternoon then drive to Mto-wa-Mbu. In this park you are guaranteed to see leopards, giraffes, zebras, lions and many more. Dinner and Overnight in the provided options of lodge or campsite

 

Day 2: Lake Manyara Park

Early morning we proceed with our group tour into Lake Manyara Park for a full day game viewing. This park is extremely famous for its lush green foliage, varied bird life, tree-climbing lions, hippos, elephants, wildebeests, baboons, thousands of flamingos that inhabit the lake shore and lots of others. We’ve a picnic lunch and continue with the drive until late evening. Overnight and dinner at your camp or Lodge

 

Day 3: Group Tour in Serengeti Park

After breakfast, departs Lake Manyara with picnic lunch to Serengeti Park via Olduvai Gorge in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Spend a short time there learn about the skull of the earliest man on the planet. Enjoy your picnic lunch right here and after that continue to Serengeti National Park for the afternoon game drive. Mid day we return to the camp or lodge for lunch and our group safari will depart to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and Overnight in the provided accommodation option you have chosen.

 

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

Today you will spend the last day of your group tour by conducting game drives inside the crater floor. The crater is a true life Eden, you’ll be amazed by its abundant wildlife that gets very near the vehicle. The crater floor supports over 25000 large mammals including the remaining Black Rhinos, Zebras, Gnus, Gazelles, Buffalos, Lions, Hippos, Elephants, Elands, Hyenas and variety of aquatic birds. We explore the crater till late afternoon and leave for Arusha.

Where to Stay when Joining Group Safari!

For the 3 day group joining safari Tanzania visitors can stay in public campsite located inside the park or outside at the park outskirt. All campsites have nice and large camping ground where we will perch our tents and also have sharing toilet facilities. The campsite located inside the parks are not fenced so animals usually move freely within the area so it is advised not to make un-neccessary movement without consulting your guide. For this case you will travel with your private cook to prepare you fresh meals. 

Another alternative accommodation for the 3 days group joining safari Tanzania are the basic permanent camps which located at the outskirt of the parks. These camps offers accommodation in a bit large tents some with private toilets and others with sharing toilets. The camps provides meals and have also a bar where you can enjoy drinks. Group Joining Safari Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Lake Manyara National Park (Arusha -to-Lake Manyara National Park)

Our professional driver guide will pick you from your hotel and introduce to other members of the group joining safari and briefing about the tour. Departs Arusha at 08:00 am to Lake Manyara National Park the journey of about 2 hours. Along the way you enjoy to see the dramatic landscapes and the scattered Maasai villages.

As you enter the park gate you will find an underground water forest which forms the peaceful home to various troops of baboons. While continuing with game drive in this group joining safari you will be able to see tree climbing lions which are the park’s main attraction. The lions climb on trees to escape the wetness and the herds of buffaloes. This park is also a home to elephant, wildebeest, buffalo, hippo, flamingo, zebra, warthog, waterbuck, dik-dik and impala.  Lake Manyara host over 400 species of birds, including flamingos, pelicans, storks and cormorants.

Our modified 4WD safari vehicle with pop-up hatch will provide you with the best opportunity to see the surroundings and take the pictures you want on this group joining safari. In the later afternoon after a long day of game drive full of adventures you will leave the park to the lodge in Mto wa Mbu Area for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Ngorongoro crater (Mto wa Mbu –to-Ngorongoro crater)

Today we continue with our group joining safari to Ngorongoro Conservation Area which is UNESCO world heritage. The Ngorongoro conservation area has a unique multiple land use policy which allows animals and wild animals to live together. In this place is where the Ngorongoro Crater and the Olduvai Gorge are situated. The Olduvai Gorge is the site where the skull of the earliest man dated about 3 million of age were discovered.

Descend the crater rim down to the crater floor for the full day game drive. The crater has the highest concentration of game animals which makes easy for you to spot all the BIG FIVE, and a vast number of predators include leopard, cheetah and hyenas. This world largest caldera is the best place to spot the black rhinos. Other animals you will see while on this group joining safari in the crater include zebra, wildebeest, serval cats, bat eared fox, grant and Thompson gazelles and birds.

You will enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater and continue the game drive after the break. Later in the afternoon, you will ascend the crater walls back to Mto wa Mbu area for dinner and overnight at Twiga Lodge.

Day 3: Tarangire National park (Ngorongoro crater to Tarangire National Park to Moshi)

Today continue with the group joining safari to Tarangire National park which is located in the southern east of Lake Manyara national park. Tarangire has vast concentrations of game animals in the peak months and a fraction of the visitors that go to any of the other Northern parks.  Although the group joining safari is available throughout the year but the best time to visit this park is during dry season from July  to October. In this time game viewing is outstanding since the animals congregate near the banks of the shrinking ponds and streams. Herds of elephants are occasionally observed scratching on the beds of the dry stream searching for water.

For visitors who stay outside the park can enjoy both day game drive and night game drive as well as the walking safari. Your driver guide will work very hard to help you spot all the animals and birds. After an extensive game drive, you will leave the park and travel back to Arusha town.

Serengeti national park vast area covers about 15,000 km2 and it is the most famous destination in Africa and the whole world. During Serengeti camping safari you are going to see plenty of animals as this park host more than 30 species of large mammals and about 500 species of birds. Vegetation covers of Serengeti varies from open grass plains in the south , Savannah with scattered acacia trees in the centre, hilly wooded grassland in the north, to extensive woodland and black clay plains to the west. Small rivers, lakes and swamps are scattered throughout.

Ngorongoro Conservation area formed in the south-east of the Serengeti National Park. The Ngorongoro conservation features the spectacular future of the world largest caldera “The Ngorongoro Crater”. The crater was formed due to a massive volcano eruption which occurred around 3 million years ago. After first eruption the second pyroclastic eruption took place which collapse the entire caldera by throwing all the pyroclastic materials several kilometers away to the southern area of Serengeti which result to a open plains.

Best Times to Visit Serengeti & Ngorongoro

The best months to visit Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area are from January to February and from June to September. Throughout these months you can track the movement of the migration as they are already in Tanzania side. For example in January to February the migration herds are in the southern Serengeti plains the area which is shared by both Ngorongoro CA and the Serengeti National Park. Visitors for the Serengeti Ngorongoro camping safari can enjoy see the herds at their calving season.  Although in these moths the area receives some rains but still the game viewing experience is amazing.  The scenery is green and impressive in Ngorongoro crater during wet season from November but game viewing is always brilliant all time.

Camping Safari Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater Itinerary

Day 1:  Arusha to Serengeti National Park

Our driver guide will pick you from your hotel in Arusha at 07:30 am to start the camping safari to Serengeti National Park. In this journey you will travel on a paved road for about 175 km to Ngorongoro entrance and the remaining 160 km from the along malanja depression to Naabi gate Serengeti. After 5 hours of driving on an adventurous road you will then arrive to the Great Serengeti National Park where you will stop for picnic lunch which followed by an with an afternoon game drive.

The Serengeti National Park which is the best spot for camping safari covers an area of about 14,763 sq km or 5,700 sq miles where the northern section of the park (Lobo area) is hilly with woodlands vegetation. The western area comprises of broken savannah areas dotted with acacia trees and whistling thorns acacia. The area is also boasts the riverine forest supported by the Grumeti River and its tributaries. The southern third of the national park comprises of endless plains which attracts the herds of migrations. The migration herd moves south to the plains in December to March of each year following the rains.

While on game drive on the camping safari you will be able to see lion, leopard, Elephant, Cheetah, Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Eland, Wild dog, Gazelles, Crocs and more.

Day 2: Full Day Serengeti National Park

Early breakfast, continues with camping safari for both morning and afternoon game drives in Seronera area the central portion of Serengeti national Park. The Seronera is an enjoyable place to be as it offers a variety of different habitats due to the presence of permanent water sources and fodders all year round.  A significant number of predators such as lions, cheetah, leopards and hyenas can also be spotted in this area. Your camping safari driver guide will help you to locate them and the herds of migration using his skills, knowledge and experiences.

If you plan to visit between March and May you will have good chance to see migration herds in Seronera area, however from December to April the migration will be in Ndutu the Southern area of Serengeti calving.

Apart from abundant wildlife presence in Serengeti there are also varied bird species found in the area such as eagles, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea fowl.

You will have all meals and Overnight at Serengeti Seronera Camp Site.

 

Day 3: Serengeti National Park-Ngorongoro Crater Rim

Wake up early morning for sunrise game drives in Serengeti at 0900 hours back to the Campsite for breakfast. After taking breakfast, departs for the game drive with picnic lunch en route to Ngorongoro crater rim via Olduvai Gorge. The Olduvai Gorge is a word famous archeological site holds the earliest evidence of the existence of human ancestors. Hundreds of fossilized bones and stone tools were found in the area dating back millions of years. After touring the area continue with the camping safari to the crater rim in Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is the multiple land use area located between the Serengeti and Lake Manyara. It is also a home to the famous Ngorongoro Crater which is the largest unbroken caldera in the world with an area of 260 km and a depth of 610 meters.

The crater is among the few places in Tanzania which offer the best camping safari experience as it offers a high chance to see the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant) in the course of a game- drive. Other animals which can be seen in the crater include wildebeest, hyena, jackals, zebra, and varied species of antelopes.

The crater is said to have about 65 – 75 lions and 450 hyenas which makes it the densest population per square kilometer. Due to this fact it is quite obvious to observe the interspecies competition between hyena and lions in the area. The Lerai forest is one of the best places where you can spot leopard in the crater.

Another interesting fact about the Ngorongoro conservation area and the crater is the presence of the Maasai people who share habitats with animals. Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Floor- Arusha .

As you continue with your camping safari, today you will wake up early morning for breakfast and at 0700hours descend into the Crater floor for half day game drives.

Today you are going to see the Big five (Rhino Lion, Leopard, Buffalo and Elephant) live in the crater. You driver will help you to spot other animals such as Zebra, Hippo, Wildebeest, Hyena and more.  The Lake Magadi which is situated within the crater boasts a varied species of water birds such as flamingos, geese and stocks. After several hours of game drives you will break for picnic lunch in one of the picnic lunch within the crater floor. After lunch proceed with game drives while ascending the Crater rim for the journey back to Arusha.

The road distance between these two parks Tarangire and the Ngorongoro Crater is about 178.4 and to shorten you will stay at Mto wa Mbu area on the first day after visiting Tarangire. In the evening drive to Mto wa mbu for dinner and overnight at Haven Nature Camp.

Day 2:  Ngorongoro crater

Earl morning breakfast then leaves to Ngorongoro for half day game drive of the Ngorongoro Crater. Ngorongoro crater support about 1000 lion’s population, approximately 20 black rhino, and the spectacular Lerai Forest is one of the best places in Africa to spot leopard.
