2 Days/1 Night Tarangire and Ngorongoro Crater Safari is a short African wildlife safari to one of the most famous northern Tanzania game reserves the Tarangire and Ngorongoro. Tarangire National Park is located about 2 hour drive from Arusha town which is the main Tanzania tourist hub. This park is famously known for boasting the largest population of elephants than any park in northern Tanzania. The landscape of the park is characterized of the seasonal swamplands and unending savannah decorated with dotted giant baobab trees. During the dry season the swamps shrink and the streams dry so herds of animals congregated near the shrinking swamps and animal such as elephants and buffaloes may observed scratching the floor of the dry streams searching for water. Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
You will start your Tarangire and Ngorongoro crater safari today by departing Arusha at 08:00 am after breakfast and drive for about 2 hours to Tarangire National Park. Along the way you pass through the beautiful landscapes of the Monduli and the Maasai steppes dotted by the acacia trees. The bustling maasai villages are also situated in the area where the warriors will observed grazing large herds of livestock and the maasi women fetching water with donkeys.
As you arrived in Tarangire national park you will conduct the game drive along the Tarangire River which cross cut the park and it is also the permanent source of water. This river is lined up with huge acacia trees and giants baobab trees which makes it become one of the attractive feature of the park. During the dry season large herds of mammals such elephants, buffaloes, zebras and other herbivores are regularly migrate along the banks of the river grazing and drinking. Predators such as lions and hyenas will also can observed following the herds of the herbivores.
Enjoy picnic lunch at the site with nice view overlooking the Tarangire River with the monkeys moves around waiting if there will be some drop off.

Day 2: Tarangire – Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

Amani Nature Reserve hiking; Amani nature reserve is located in the East Usambara Mountains and it is the home to fauna and flora which cannot found somewhere else. Among the endemic species found in this reserve and the Usambara Mountains include, the Usambara three-horned chameleon, Nduk eagle owl and the famous African violet (Saintpaulia).
One of the major attraction in Amani nature reserve is the Botanical gardens which is the second largest botanical garden in the world where major medical research are done in the Amani Medical Research. Now days this Nature reserve has changed into one of the significant tourist attraction in the country where by a number of tourist from around the world visit for scientific research, ecotourism and trekking.

Day 1: Emau Hill, Usambara Mountains
Depart Dar es Salaam at 0800 hrs to Amani nature reserve in Usambara Mountains.. Stop for lunch at Korogwe Transit hotel then proceed to Emau Hill where you will overnight at Emau Hill Campsite.
Day 2: Amani Nature Reserve
After breakfast a short walk in the immediate area to experience a tropical rain forest and by the river to see the African Violets growing in profusion.

Udzungwa Mountains Trek through Mwanihana trail takes 3 days with overnight stay in tents in the mid of the virgin and charming forest. Starting few kilometers from the Udzungwa Mountains National Park headquarters in Mang’ula village this trail develops through the eastern side of Mt. Mwanihana, across semi-humid hilly forests, humid sub-mountain forests, pluvial mountain forests, and short stretches of high-mountain moorlands, and reaches the highest peak at about 2,400 meters of height. While on trek you will encounter several species of animals and vegetation.
The total distance for this route is about 20 kilometers and trekking is easy with some short steep distances. Since the night is spent in the forest where the weather and climatic condition is somehow difficult then this trail is recommended for adventure travelers and wilderness lovers.
Detail Udzungwa Mountains Trek Program
Day 1 – 2: Dar es Slaam to Mikumi National Park
Pick up from the hotel at Dar es Salaam or Airport for the drive to Mikumi national park with a short stop in Morogoro town for breakfast. Continue to Mikumi national park and upon the arrival at the park conduct game drive with the possibility to see animal such as lion, leopard, cheetah, elephants, buffaloes and several species of antelopes. This park is also the best spot for bird watching safari with about 400 bird species recorded. Meals and overnight at Camp Bastian.
Day 3: Mikumi National Park to Mang’ula
Early morning leave Mikumi to Udzungwa Mountains National Park at Mang’ula for registrations thereafter transfer to the starting point of Sanje trail for a half day trek. While on the hike you will see several endemic primates such as Sanje Crested Mangabey and the Iringa red Colobus. Arrive at Sanje waterfalls which water drops at the height of about 180 meters. Spend some moments relax at the waterfalls and enjoy your picnic lunch overlooking the panoramic view of the Kilombero Valley. In the afternoon descend back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Mwanihana trail
Breakfast at the lodge then transfer to Sonjo Village which is begin point for the Mwanihana trek. Day 5: Udzungwa Mountains Trek

Below you will view a spider’s web of elephant trails crisscrossing the park. Descend and trek through the forest until you reach your camp for the night.
Day 4: Udzungwa Mountains Trek back to Dar es Salaam.

Day 4: Mahale Mountains – Kigoma
Today after early breakfast you shall depart from the cottage for the journey back to Kigoma. Arrive Kigoma in the afternoon at lunch time lunch.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking
Spend the morning hours tracking the chimpanzee in the forest. Your guide will lead you through the right trail where you can spot the chimps. Depending on the season of the year chimpanzee tends come closer to the lodge / camp or further away which makes the trek to be shorter or longer which might take up to 8 hrs. In some occasion the chimps tends to be out of reach that is why we encourage visitors to book a tour of at least two to three days. Day 4: Mahale National Park – ARUSHA
