Selous National Park

Selous National Park safari is an impressive camping safari to the pristine and the largest game protected area in Africa. Game viewing in Selous can be done on boat safari, game drive and walking safari and spot a variety of animals and the water birds.

The Selous Game Reserve covers a total area of 54,600 km (21,081 square miles) and is one of the largest fauna reserves of the world, located in the south of Tanzania. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 due to the diversity of its wildlife and undisturbed nature. The reserve is home to typical savannah animals such as elephants, hippopotami, the rare African Wild Dog and crocodiles, which are all found in larger numbers compared to any other African park.

Different from other parks in Tanzania at Selous off-road driving is permitted so we can get you closer to the wildlife. Your driver guide will tailor the drive to your interests and visit the areas of the reserve with the highest concentrations of wildlife. During the hottest part of the day you’ll stop off under the shade of a large tree, often beside a lake, to watch the wildlife coming to drink while you enjoy a picnic lunch.
