What is a Group Joining Safari?

A group joining safari is precisely what it sounds like — a safari experience shared with a group of travelers, often from different parts of the world, who come together to enjoy the wonders of Tanzania. Unlike private safaris that can be tailored to personal preferences but come with a higher price tag, group safaris offer the advantage of shared costs, making them more affordable without compromising on the adventure.

Group Joining Safaris have become a popular choice for budget-conscious travelers seeking an authentic African safari experience. By sharing the safari vehicle and guide’s services with a maximum of 6 clients (for budget camping) or 7 clients (for ensuite accommodations), this option ensures window seats for all. It offers solo travelers the chance to lower their costs and forge new friendships, while couples can enjoy the beauty of Tanzania together.

Our group joining safaris in Tanzania range from 2 to 6 days and are available throughout the year, with the high and peak seasons from June to October and December to February being the most convenient times to join. During these months, the country sees a surge in tourists, providing ample opportunities to form group safaris. Our safaris primarily focus on the northern Tanzania safari destinations, including iconic places such as Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Arusha National Park, Tarangire, and Lake Eyasi. Additionally, we offer group joining opportunities for mountaineering expeditions to Kilimanjaro and Meru.

Our group joining safari typically departs from Arusha at 8:00 am, although slight delays may occur due to multiple pickups. The game drive experience during our group joining safaris is exceptionally thrilling, lasting between 7 to 9 hours and encompassing pickup and drop-off services from your accommodation. To maximize your game drive time, we recommend staying in the same accommodation throughout your safari.

The itineraries for group joining on Wilds of Africa are fixed and do not accommodate additional activities such as Balloon safari or Maasai village visits. Similarly, some other add-on activities like hiking may be impractical as the entire group needs to adhere to the same schedule.

The Advantages of Choosing a Group Joining Safari

Cost-Effectiveness

One of the most compelling reasons to opt for a group joining safari in Tanzania is the cost savings. By sharing the expenses of transportation, guides, and accommodation, you can enjoy a high-quality safari experience at a fraction of the cost of a private tour.

Safety and Security

For solo travelers or those new to Africa, a group safari provides a sense of security. There’s safety in numbers, and having an experienced guide leading the group ensures that you are well taken care of throughout your journey.

Environmental and Cultural Sensitivity

Traveling in a group can reduce the ecological footprint of your safari. Fewer vehicles mean less impact on the environment and wildlife habitats. Additionally, it allows for a more respectful approach to local communities as a collective group can engage in cultural exchanges more thoughtfully.
