Best of Kenya and Tanzania Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Kenya
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be warmly welcomed by our representative. They will assist you with your luggage and guide you to your vehicle. The drive to Sarova Panafric Hotel is comfortable and pleasant giving you a glimpse of the vibrant city of Nairobi. Once you reach the hotel you can check in and settle into your room. Enjoy a restful overnight stay in this welcoming environment.
Day 2: Nairobi to Lake Naivasha/Hell’s Gate
Begin your safari adventure in Kenya and Tanzania with a drive to Hell’s Gate National Park, where you can enjoy a biking safari. If biking is not an option for you, transportation will be provided by vehicle. Afterward, proceed to your hotel for lunch and check-in. In the evening, take part in a boat safari on Lake Naivasha. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be at Lake Naivasha Country Club or a similar establishment.
Day 3: Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru
This morning, we set off for Lake Nakuru National Park, a compact reserve renowned for its stunning and rare white rhinos. After enjoying a delightful lunch, we will embark on an afternoon game drive within the park. In addition to the white and black rhinos, the park is also inhabited by giraffes, hippos, buffalo, zebras, and wildebeests.
Dinner and overnight accommodations will be at Lake Nakuru Lodge.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara National Reserve
Start your day with an early breakfast before heading to the Maasai Mara Reserve. Upon your arrival at the camp, check in and enjoy a leisurely lunch. At 4:00 PM, embark on an exhilarating game drive in the Mara Reserve, which will last until 6:00 PM. After the drive, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. The Maasai Mara Reserve is renowned as Kenya’s top tourist attraction, located in the Great Rift Valley and featuring vast grasslands. The western escarpment of the reserve boasts the highest density of wildlife, earning it the distinction of being the crown jewel of Kenya’s wildlife observation sites. The annual wildebeest migration, which sees over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November, is a spectacular event. Visitors can expect to see the Big Five, and the remarkable wildebeest migration, a breathtaking phenomenon exclusive to the Maasai Mara, is truly one of the wonders of the world. Day 5: Full Day in Maasai Mara
Begin your day with an early breakfast before embarking on a full day of game viewing in the park. This day is dedicated to exploring the stunning landscapes of Maasai Mara, renowned as Kenya’s premier wildlife destination. The park is celebrated for the wildebeest migration, the Big Five, as well as hippos and Nile crocodiles. At midday, enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, taking refuge under the shade of a croton tree while admiring the expansive views of the surroundings.
Your guide will assist in locating the migrating herds, which include wildebeest, zebras, and various antelope species. Close behind them are the savanna’s predators, such as lions, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures.

Day 6: Journey from Maasai Mara to Isebania Border and Serengeti
Enjoy breakfast at 6:00 am before checking out with picnic lunch for the four-hour drive to the Isebania border. Continue your journey to Serengeti National Park, passing through Mugumu town. Upon arrival in Serengeti, embark on a game drive as you make your way to the camp.
Dinner and overnight accommodations will be at Osinon Camp or Serengeti Wildebeest Tented Camp.
Day 7: Full Day in Serengeti
At 7:00 AM, depart from the camp for an entire day of wildlife observation in the expansive Serengeti plains.
Serengeti National Park ranks as the third largest park in Tanzania, following Nyerere and Ruaha National Parks. Spanning approximately 14,763 square kilometers, the Serengeti boasts the highest density of large mammals on Earth and is renowned for its population of 2,500 lions, the largest concentration found anywhere globally. Additionally, the park is home to over 518 identified bird species, including some Eurasian migrants that visit during the European winter months from October to April.
Dinner and overnight accommodations will be at Osinon Camp or Serengeti Wildebeest Tented Camp.
Day 8: Journey from Serengeti to Ngorongoro
After breakfast, check out and embark on a game drive while en route to the Ngorongoro crater rim, enjoying a picnic lunch at Olduvai Gorge along the way. Arrive at the Ngorongoro crater in the late afternoon and check in at the Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge.
Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater Excursion
Begin your day with an early breakfast before ascending to the rim of the crater and descending to the crater floor, equipped with a packed lunch for a full day of wildlife observation. The Ngorongoro Crater, recognized as the largest intact caldera globally, serves as a habitat for thousands of mammals and birds. Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to observe lions, hyenas, wildebeests, zebras, black rhinoceroses, and various species of small antelopes on the crater floor. This stunning environment offers a remarkable backdrop for your African safari experience. Some researchers suggest that prior to its eruption, the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in existence, may have been taller than Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. It is one of the rare locations in Africa where you have a significant chance of encountering the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant) during your game drive. The local Maasai are permitted to graze their cattle on the crater floor, making it common to see Maasai cattle and buffalo grazing alongside lions just meters away. The crater is home to approximately 1,000 lions, around 20 black rhinos, and the magnificent Lerai Forest is renowned as one of the best spots in Africa to observe leopards. In the afternoon, you will return from the crater floor to the lodge to pack before heading to the nearby town of Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay at Country Lodge.
Day 10: Lake Manyara to Arusha.
After breakfast, proceed with your Kenya and Tanzania safari by exploring Lake Manyara National Park, a compact reserve located in the eastern section of the Rift Valley. This park is renowned for its unique tree-climbing lions, the soda ash lake that draws thousands of pink flamingos, and it boasts one of the largest elephant populations in Tanzania, along with stunning landscapes. Dedicate half a day to discovering the wonders of this park before heading to Arusha town for dinner and an overnight stay at the Venus Hotel.
Day 11: Arusha to Amboseli via Namanga Border
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing for Amboseli National Park through the Namanga border. Upon crossing, a driver from the Kenyan side will meet you and continue to Amboseli, where you will embark on an afternoon game drive, complemented by a picnic lunch along the way.
Dinner and overnight accommodations will be at Sentrim Amboseli.
Day 12: Full Day at Amboseli National Park.
Begin the day with an early morning game drive, followed by a return to the lodge for breakfast. Afterward, enjoy a full day in the park, equipped with a packed lunch, as you seek out its famous inhabitants, including renowned predators and their counterparts such as zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and hippos, all set against the backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro. In the evening, return to the camp or lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at Sentrim Amboseli or AA Lodge Amboseli.
Day 13: Amboseli to Nairobi
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before checking out. Following this, you will drive back to Nairobi, where you will be dropped off at the airport for your departure flights.
