3-Day Tanzania Camping Safari

This 3-day Tanzania camping safari covers Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara at a lower price than its lodge counterpart. During the safari, you will stay in dome tents at a public campsite within the parks or in the Manyara or Karatu area. On some occasions, the mattress will be set down on the ground sheet or on a proper camp bed. Our crew cooks all meals, while you still get the same private 4x4, driver-guide,e and park access as the lodge version.
Three-day camping safari gives a genuine taste of Nature, falling asleep to the sounds of the bush after a day of game drives, without the logistics of a multi-night mobile camping trek. If comfort matters more than budget, our 3-Day Tanzania Lodge Safari covers the identical route with lodge or tented-camp accommodation instead. Travelers who’d rather keep it short can also look at our 2-Day Tanzania Camping Safari, which covers Tarangire and Ngorongoro without Lake Manyara.

Detailed Tanzania Camping Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, we pick you up from your Arusha lodge for a quick safari briefing, then drive to Tarangire National Park. En route, you will pass through Arusha town centre, where you can do any last-minute shopping before heading into the wilderness. This park is known for its massive Elephant population and also its giant Baobab trees. About 3000 elephants are recorded within this park,, moving through the Tarangire Lake Manyara ecosystem.
The park is named after the river (Tarangire River) that runs through the park and is a permanent source of water in the whole ecosystem. The park offers beautiful scenery and rare species like Greater Kudu, Fringed-Eared Oryx, and the Ash stalling. Lions, leopards, hyenas, jackals, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras and various types of antelopes can be seen within this park. Afternoon game drive to Migombani Public Campsite or similar, near Lake Manyara, for sunset, dinner and overnight.
Overnight at Migombani Public Campsite near Lake Manyara. All meals included.

Day 2: Tarangire – Ngorongoro Crater

3-Day Camping Safari Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater & Lake Manyara continues today as we take you to the Ngorongoro Crater. After breakfast at the campsite, proceed towards Ngorongoro Crater. The drive to Ngorongoro Crater takes you through the majestic Great East African Rift Valley and the highlands of Karatu. Get to the Ngorongoro gate and check in; thereafter, drive to the cthe crater viewpoint to get stunning shots of the crater floor from its rim. After that, drive down into the crater floor for an amazing game drive (picnic lunch will be provided at the crater floor). Ngorongoro Crater is often considered one of the wonders of the world; however, despite being called a crater, it is actually the world’s largest volcanic caldera. It is one of the few places where you can see the unique black rhino in its natural habitat. The crater walls are about 2000ft high, and very few animals move in and out of it. Lions, Elephants, Hyenas, Jackals, zebras, hippos, rhinos, antelopes, flamingoes, and many other birds are some of the wildlife you expect to see. You may be lucky to see all the ‘Big Five’ in a single day of game drives. Spend the evening driving back out of Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and at sundown, you’ll stop at Lake Manyara viewpoint for a lovely photo of Lake Manyara and its forests on the edge of the Great East African Rift Valley, and then drive down to Migombani Public Campsite or a similar location by Lake Manyara for dinner and overnight.
Overnight at Migombani Campsite or Similar Location by Lake Manyara. Meals included.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha

After breakfast at the campsite, proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for game drives. Lake Manyara National Park is a green, lush, evergreen park because underground streams of water flow from the Great Rift Valley to the Lake.
,The park’s diverse ecosystems, with an abundance of water and food, support wildlife, including herds of African elephants, buffalo, zebras, impala, hippopotamuses, giraffes and various antelopes. You can also see the renowned tree-climbing lions and predators of Lake Manyara National Park. Massive but shallow Soda Lake is home to colorful flamingos and other birds.
In the late afternoon, proceed to Arusha through Mto wa Mbu town for an overnight stay or drop off at the airport. (If you wish, you can also visit some Masai market on your way back to Arusha).
