Saadani Wildlife and Birds

The most common wildlife in Saadani include four of the Big Five, namely lions, African elephants, buffaloes and African leopards. Common waterbucks, blue wildebeest, bohor reedbucks, Masai giraffes, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, warthogs, hippopotamus, red duikers and the rare sable antelope. A number of primates are also present in Saadani national park such as blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, blue monkeys, black-and white Colobus monkeys. Small mammals in Saadani national park include African civets, mongooses, genet cats and porcupines. Nile crodiles are also found in Wami River which flow across Saadani national park into the Indian Ocean.

Day 1: Saadani National Park Safari
Depends on your arrival details our driver guide will pick you at the airport, ferry or the hotel in Dar es Salaam for the journey to Saadani National Park. To make sure that you have enough time to explore this beautiful park we recommend that the journey should start early morning around 0700 hrs. As you arrive in Saadani your guide will take you for the boat ride along Wami river where you will see a variety of water birds and animals at close vicinity. Dinner and overnight at Tanapa Bandas. Saadani National Park in the home to various large African plain animals such as lion, elephant, leopard, giraffe, zebra etc. If you luck you may also be able to spot the tree climbing lions. Day 2: Saadani National Park Safari: Game viewing
Today you may opt to go for a game drive in the few plain areas of the park. During the game drive you will possiblity locate a variety of animal species include lion, elephant, leopard, giraffe, zebra etc. If luck you may also spot the tree climbing lions. In the afternoon drive back to Dar es Salaam where you will be dropped in the hotel.
