Saadani Camping Safari an adventure tour to Saadani National Park for the best wildlife viewing and beach holiday. The Saadani National Park is located in Eastern Coastal beach of Indian Ocean in near the historic city of Bagamoyo and Pangani. The park also is located about 42 kilometer from the tropical Island of Zanzibar. Visitors can access Saadani national park by flight or road from Dar es Salaam and from Zanzibar one can just fly for only 15 minutes. Being the only game reserve in Tanzania which bordering with Indian Ocean Saadani National Park is the best spot for honeymoon vacation as it offers all it needed for the best honeymoon. Game viewing can be done by boat along Wami River or by vehicle.

 

Saadani Camping Safari Program

 

Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Saadani National Park

Pick up from the hotel in Dar es Salaam at 0800 hrs for a drive to Saadani National Park via Bagamoyo / Masata. Arrive Saadani in the mid-day for check in and hot lunch at the Camp. Afternoon after lunch go for game drive into the park where you will be able to spot elephant, zebra, buffalo, wildebeest, waterback, leopard, lion, baboon and many more others. Dinner and overnight at the Camp.

 

Day 2: Game viewing in Saadani National Park

Breakfast in the camp, depart for the morning game drive in the park then back to for lunch. In the evening spend time at the beach to experience such a magic of African wilderness in contact with beach. Later return to your camp for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 3: Boat Safari OR Walking in the Reserve

Today after breakfast you will opt to go for a walking safari or boat excursion along Wami River. The boat safari bring you closer to the marine animals such as crocodiles, hippos and some water birds.

If you choose to go for walking tour you will be escorted by an armed ranger guide. Return to the camp for lunch and then leave for Dar es Salaam. End of service.

Saadani day trip from Dar es Salaam is a unique African Safari holiday to the only park in East Africa region which border with the beach. Game viewing in Saadani National park offers a real African wildlife safari experience. Located about 130 km from Dar es Salaam the Saadani National Park offers an appealing combination of beach and wildlife viewing which can not seen somewhere else. Visitor from Zanzibar can reach Saadani by air just in 15 minutes.  The Wami River, which cross Saadani hosts a large population of hippos, crocodiles, flamingos, and many other large bird species.

On game drive you will see different species of African plain animals include giraffe, buffalo, warthog, reedbuck, waterbuck, hartebeest, greater kudu,  wildebeest, eland, sable, yellow baboon etc. Several herds of elephant will occasionally seen.

 

Saadani Day Safari Program

 

Early in the morning we will pick you from the hotel or the resident house in Dar es Salaam and drive to Saadani National Park the journey of two hours. While on the way you will see scenery and landscapes, local villages and some historical sites.

 

Arrive Saadani National Park and proceed with the game drive into various areas of the park. Your guide will assist you to spot various land mammals such as elephant, lion, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, waterbuck and sable antelope and birds like the African hornbill.

On boat ride along Wami River you will be able to see several marines’ animals and birds includes hippos, crocodiles, lesser flamingo, and kingfisher. The beaches in Saadani are one of the major breeding sites for green turtles on the mainland Tanzania.

 

In the mid-day enjoy picnic lunch on the beach with its white sand and sparkling clear water with your loved one. After lunch you may opt to proceed with the game drive or embark into the boat safari.

Boat Safari brings you closer to the marine birds and it also offers a chance to spot hippos and crocodiles at closer proximity.

In the evening we will leave Saadani for the journey back to Dar Es Salaam where we’ll drop you back at your hotel.

Gondar Emperor’s Castle is a complex of royal palaces and castles in Gondar, Ethiopia.  The entire complex covers an area of about 70,000 sqm, and it is dates back to the 17th century and is often referred to by historians as the Camelot of Ethiopia. Located just near the town center one can walk from his/her hotel to the ruins. When in the site the local guide will walk you around while giving brief history of the castles.

Arrival   Bole International Airport

On your arrival at Bole International Airport you will be met and transferred to the hotel for overnight.

 

Day 1:  Addis Ababa – Bahar Dar

Pick from the hotel to the airport for the flight to to Bahar Dar.  Tour activities in Bahar Dar Include a Visit to the marketplace, boat ride in Lake Tana which is source of the Blue Nile and visit to ancient island monasteries.

 

Day 2:   Bahar Dar – Gondar

Breakfast then depart for Gondar where you will Tour the Royal Enclosure, a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring five castles built in the early 17th century by Ethiopian kings. The castles were survived several wars include the World War 2.  Later proceed to the church of Debre Birhan Selassie who is famous for its religious art and especially its iconic ceiling depicting angels. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 3:   Gondar – Lalibela

Leave Gondar to Lalibela on scheduled flight to visit the magnificent rock-hewn churches which is among the UNESCO World Heritage site.  This group of eleven monolithic churches were carved directly into the stone mountainside about 800 years ago.  Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 4:   Lalibela – Addis Ababa

Leisure breakfast, transfer to the airport for a flight to Addis Ababa. Afternoon you may do the city tour of Addis or shopping. Late night we will provide you with a transfer to the airport for your onward flight back home.  Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Erta Ale Volcano Tour in Ethiopia a spectacular trek to active lava lake which comprises of two active volcano craters within a larger oval-shaped caldera. The two caldera exhibit periodic fountaining of lava causing Lava Lake overflows; this creates spectacular incandescence as the pahoehoe lava flows into the larger caldera around the craters and occasionally beyond. Lava flows in the S crater overflowed its rim in November 2010 (BGVN 36:06).

 

Erta Ale Volcano Tour Program

 

Day 1:   Mekele to Hamed ela

In the morning transfer to the airport for your schedule flight to Mekele. From Makele drive to Hamedela via Berhale (639 meters above sea level). Pass across the Danakil Depression which is full of eye-catching colors due to the presence of sulphur springs. Some points of the depression lying about 100 meters below sea level. Proceed with the journey to small town of Berhale where the camel caravans stop before they proceed to the northern highlands. En route you see many long caravans going to the salt mines and others coming out of the Danakil with their salt loaded camels. (3-4 hrs drive) Camp at Hamedela.

 

Day 2: Hamd Ela – Dodom (150 meters)

Early breakfast then at 0630 hrs departs to Askoma (150 meters) which is located at the base of new Erta Ale. The distance between Hamd Ela to Askoma is about 80 km and it is the journey of about 6 hrs passing through changing landscape of solidified lava, rock, sand and the occasional palm lined oasis. The route is also pass through several small hamlets scattered here and there in this desert land. Trek 9 km for about 3 hrs from Askoma to the new Erta Ale. Early dinner and trek up to the new Erta Ale reach the peak at 20:00. The Camels carry all the camping materials and some food, sleeping materials, mattresses and water, to the rim of the volcano. Spend a night at the rim watching the dramatic action of the boiling lava. New Erta Ale is a shield volcano with a base diameter of 30 km and 1km square caldera at its summit which ranks one of the most alluring and physically challenging natural attractions anywhere in Ethiopia. The magma flow moved 3.5 kms south from old Erta Ale to the New eruption point.

 

Day 3: Explore the Volcano

Proceed with the Erta Ale Volcano Tour by enjoying the sunrise at the volcano and Lake Afdera (102 meters) then walk around the craters. The main crater is 613 meters above sea level with and the depth of 200 m and width of 350 m. The smaller southern pit is 65 m wide and about 100 m deep. At 7:00 hrs leave to Askoma where you will arrive at at 10:30 am. During winter you may visit Lake Afdera which is the deepest depression on the planet. Lake Afdera is Located about 100 m below the sea level. Proceed to Hamed Ela for overnight at the campsite.

 

Day 4: Hamed Ela – Mekele

Today you will visit Dallol and Lake Assal which are 130 m below the sea level. This place is famous for salt mining. Observe the locals cutting salts block ready to carry by camels. Later drive back to Hamedela and proceed to Mekele where you will take a schedule flight back to Addis Ababa. Overnight in the hotel. On the next day you will be provided with transfer to the airport for your onward flight back home.

Day 1: Addis Ababa-Bahirdar- Lake Tana-Blue Nile Falls

Fly from Addis Ababa to Bahirdar, met and transfer to the hotel for check in. Embark into the boat trip in Lake Tana to visit the ancient 14th century island monasteries of Lake Tana. The 37 islands of Lake Tana shelter twenty monasteries-surviving remnants of an old, contemplative tradition. Because of their isolation, they were used to store treasures and religious relics from all parts of the country.  The Lake’s monasteries are famous for their typical Ethiopian religious paintings, illuminated manuscripts, and other ancient church treasures.

Lunch in the hotel, drive for 35 KM to the majestic Blue Nile Falls. Blue Nile measure 45m-high and they form the most spectacular waterfall in Africa. Walking to the fall through the beautiful river gorge on the ancient bridge from the 17th century, and meeting the local people at the small villages on the way to the fall is also a great experience.

 

Day 2:  Bahirdar-Lalibela

Breakfast in the hotel, transfer to Bahirdar airport for a flight to Lalibela. At the airport meet and transfer to the hotel for check in then drive to the site of the Ethiopia’s most famous rock hewl churches which referred by many as “the living wonders of the world”. The monolithic churches were carved out of 2,600-sq meter natural rock terrace in the 12-century AD by king Lalibela.

Bete Medhani Alem, the largest monolithic rock-hewn church in the world, measures 37.7 ft in height, covers an area of almost 2625 square ft and has walls that are up to six feet thick. A plain building supported by 36 pillars on the inside and another 36 pillars around the outside, Bete Medhani Alem was modeled on the original St. Mary Zion Church built by King Ezana in the 4th century at Axum.

In the morning the rock churches that you will visit include:  Bete Meskel, Bete Medhani Alem, Bete Golgotha Michael, Bete Mariam, Bete Giorgis and Bete Denagil

Lunch then proceed with the tour to other St. Lalibela’s remarkable churches-their architecture and artistry must be seen to be believed. After visiting the churches proceed with the walking through the complex bewildering labyrinth of underground tunnels to the monastery were the monks and nuns live.

Day 3:  Lalibela-Addis Ababa
