The first day of this camping safari will visit Tarangire National Park locate about 150 kilometer south west of Arusha town. This beautiful park shares the ecosystem with its neighbor Lake Manyara National Park. The interesting things that you are going to see in Tarangire during this camping safari are the largest herds of elephants, gigantic baobab trees and the Tarangire River which park named after it. Most game drives in Tarangire Park are done along the banks of the Tarangire River where animals tend to congregate during the dry season. After exploring this park you will proceeds with your camping safari to Lake Natron the shallow soda lake to see thousands of flamingo birds. While in Lake Natron you will also get a chance to visit the local maasai people for cultural experience. After a day in Lake Natron area your camping safari will take you to the vast Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti Park is the most famous park in the world and the oldest in Tanzania. The park boasts the largest number of predators such as lions, leopards, cheetah, hyenas and crocodiles. During your camping safari in Serengeti you will enjoy to see all these predators. In addition to that you will also see varied species of resident animals and the herds of the migration animals which comprises of over 1.5million beasts.
After spending two days of this budget camping safari enjoying the magic of Serengeti park you will then drive to Ngorongoro conservation area. The Ngorongoro conservation Area is the home to the Olduvai Gorge and the Ngorongoro Crater which is main attraction of the area. In the crater you will be awarded with the greatest chance to see all the members of the legendary game animals “BIG FIVE” such as lion, leopard, elephants, buffaloes and rhinos.
6 Days Camping Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After a short briefing in the morning, you will start your 6 days camping safari by heading to the Tarangire National Park. The Tarangire national park features the savannah grassland dotted with acacia trees, giants baobab trees, seasonal swamps and lagoons which inhibited by huge elephant herds. During dry season the animals gather at the only source of water the Tarangire River its tributaries. While on game drive you should see a selection of mammals ranging from giraffes, bushbucks and hartebeests to the weird-looking gerenuk and fringe-eared oryx. The park is also home to wildebeest, buffaloes and zebras which are always closely followed by a range of predators such as lions and hyenas. Leopards are seen now and then but cheetahs are rarely spotted. From the open roof of the safari vehicle you will be able to absorb the landscape and watch the animals. In the late afternoon you will arrive at a campsite inside the park, where you will spend the night in a tent.
Day 2: Tarangire National Park to Lake Natron
After breakfast, continue with your 6 days camping safari to the multicultural village of Mto wa Mbu then afterward to Ngaresero village in Lake Nataron. The Ngaresero village is an Oasis in the hot hot and dusty Rift Valley. Along the journey you will pass through the eastern escarpment of the rift valley to Engaruka ruins and the Ol doinyo Lengai volcano. The Ol Doinyo Lengai is a Maasai name meaning “The Mountain of God“. The maasai people gave the name to this mountain after seeing the fire on the mountain during the volcanic eruption. This reminds us of the biblical story of Moses who met God as fire on Mountain Sinai. Just from the camp you will see a pink glow from thousands of flamingos breeding and feeding on the algae of the alkaline Lake Natron. In the afternoon you will join a Maasai guide on a walk to a nearby waterfall before you return to the campsite for your overnight.

Day 3: Lake Natron to Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, you will travel along adventurous dirt climbing out of the Rift Valley to the endless plains of the Serengeti National Park. Arrive Serengeti in the mid-day and continue with sightseeing. The Serengeti (siringeti) is a Maasai word means “endless plains” the grassland savannah stretching to the horizon. It is the oldest and the most famous park in Tanzania and the entire world home to the largest animal migration on the planet involve hundreds of thousands of animals wander to find fresh grass and water. Overnight in the campsite in the central or northern part of the park with breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 4: Serengeti National Park
The entire day of your camping safari will be dedicated to game in the park. You will either go on a full day game drive or join early morning and afternoon drives in the Seronera area, depending on last night’s stop. Between March and May huge herds of wildebeests and zebras will be seen in the central area while calves and foals being born between January and March in Ndutu the southern part of the park. The Seronera area is also the best place to spot varied species of predators such as lions, cheetah, hyenas and leopards. Spend the night at campsite in the Seronera area with lunch, breakfast and dinner included.
Day 5: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Today you may opt to go for balloon safari or continue with the sunrise game drives in the Serengeti with a possibility to spot animals which you haven’t seen yet. Most predators tend to be more active in the morning before the temperature rise in the mid-day. Animals tend to be more active in the morning before the temperatures soar around midday. After lunch, departs Serengeti to the highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you arrive in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight at the campsite.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Early breakfast, depart with picnic lunch along the rough terrain down into the 600 meter deep crater. The slopes of the crater are covered with forest however the landscape changes to savannah with the occasional acacia tree as you approach the floor. The crater is home to a varied animals species and birds. If luck you will spot the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. You should also see warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, hippos and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. After an entire morning of game viewing and a picnic lunch in the crater, you will leave Ngorongoro for the journey to back to Arusha
