Safari in Serengeti Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and First Impressions

The Journey Begins

Your Serengeti safari adventure starts as you touch down at the nearest airstrip, where the vastness of the Serengeti welcomes you. The excitement is palpable as you are greeted by your safari guide, who will be your navigator and storyteller for the coming days. A short drive to your chosen lodge or campsite offers a tantalizing preview of the wildlife and landscapes that await.

Settling In

Upon arrival at your accommodation, you’ll have the chance to settle into your room or tent, which promises comfort amidst the wild. These lodgings are designed to blend into the environment, providing an authentic and immersive experience. Take a moment to breathe in the fresh savannah air and prepare for the first game drive of your safari.

An Afternoon Among Giants

The late afternoon is an ideal time for wildlife spotting as animals become more active in the cooler temperatures. Your guide expertly navigates the vehicle through the golden grasslands as you encounter herds of zebra and antelope. The highlight of the day for this Serengeti safari may be watching a pride of lions lounging in the shade or witnessing a powerful elephant bull in solitude. As the sun sets, painting the sky in fiery hues, you head back to camp with hearts full of wonder.

A Night Under the Stars

Back at the lodge, a sumptuous dinner awaits, often featuring local flavors and ingredients. Afterward, gather around a crackling campfire, sharing stories with fellow travelers under the Serengeti’s star-studded sky. The distant roars of lions and the gentle calls of nocturnal birds lull you into a deep sleep, with dreams of the wild adventures that lie ahead.

Day 2: The Heart of the Serengeti

Sunrise and the Great Migration

An early start is essential on safari, and there’s nothing quite like a Serengeti sunrise. Today, you may have the chance to witness the Great Migration, a natural spectacle featuring over a million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle on their annual journey in search of fresh grazing grounds. The sight of this thunderous procession is a testament to the raw power and beauty of nature.

Full-Day Game Drive

A full-day game drive provides the opportunity to explore different regions of the park. Your guide leads you to waterholes where animals gather, past kopjes where lions survey their territory, and across riverine areas where hippos and crocodiles reign. Each turn reveals a new scene from the circle of life: a cheetah on the hunt, a giraffe nibbling tender leaves, or a cluster of vultures signaling a recent kill.

Picnic in the Wild

Lunch is an al fresco affair, often at a designated picnic site with views over the plains. Enjoy a well-prepared meal as you discuss the morning’s sightings and speculate about what the afternoon may hold.

Continued Explorations

As the day progresses, your guide’s keen eyes and experience lead you to more remarkable encounters. The Serengeti’s diverse habitats are home to over 500 bird species, making it a birder’s paradise as well. As the sun begins its descent, you make your way back to the lodge, the day’s images etched into memory.

Relaxing Evening

After such an eventful day, relaxation is key. Enjoy the amenities of your lodge, perhaps with a dip in the pool or a massage to soothe tired muscles. Another delicious dinner provides a chance to reflect on the day’s adventures before retiring to the comfort of your bed, serenaded by the sounds of the African night.

Day 3: Final Game Drive and Departure

Morning Farewell

On your final day in the Serengeti, there’s time for one last game drive. It’s a chance to savor the sights and sounds of the park and perhaps tick off any wildlife you’ve yet to encounter. Your guide endeavors to fulfill any last requests, knowing these moments are precious.

Brunch and Goodbyes

Returning to the lodge, you enjoy a leisurely brunch, the flavors somehow richer with the backdrop of the wilderness. It’s a time for exchanging contacts with new friends and promising to share photos of your shared experiences.

Journey Home

As you pack your bags and prepare for your departure, the magic of the Serengeti doesn’t fade—it accompanies you, a feeling you’ll carry long after you’ve left its borders. Your guide drives you back to the airstrip, where you bid farewell to the land that has captured your heart.

Day 1: Arrival and Introduction to Ruaha

Morning: The Safari  in Ruaha Begins

Our journey started with a small charter flight from Dar es Salaam, offering breathtaking views of the Tanzanian landscape below. As we descended towards the airstrip, the vastness of Ruaha National Park unfolded before us – a sprawling 20,226 square kilometers of raw African wilderness, making it Tanzania’s largest national park.

Upon touchdown, the warm breeze carried the scent of the wild, a blend of dry earth and acacia. You will be greeted by our guide, who will brief you about the park and its inhabitants. A short drive to your chosen accommodation where you will enjoy the first glimpses of the park’s inhabitants: impalas grazing, a lone baobab standing tall, and a distant giraffe’s silhouette against the skyline.

Afternoon:  First Game Drive in Ruaha Safari

You arrived at you your accommodation just in time for a quick lunch. The lodge or camp blended seamlessly into the surroundings, offering comfort while maintaining an authentic safari ambiance. With no fences, the line between us and the wild was thrillingly thin.

The real adventure began with our first game drive. Ruaha is known for its high concentration of elephants, and it wasn’t long before we encountered a herd, complete with playful calves. The park is also home to 10% of the world’s lion population, and our hearts raced as we watched a pride lounging in the shade.

As the sun dipped towards the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, we returned to the lodge or camp. The night was filled with the sounds of the bush – a reminder that in Ruaha, the safari experience doesn’t end with the sunset.

Day 2: Full Day Safari in Ruaha

Early morning: Sunrise and Predators

Waking before dawn, you set out in the cool morning air. Sunrise in Ruaha is a symphony of colors, and you sipped your coffee as the daybreak chorus of birds filled the air. This time is prime for spotting nocturnal predators before they retreated from the day’s heat. If Luck you will witness predators such as lions, leopard and the rare African hunting dogs preying.

Midday: A River of Life

As the sun climbed, continue with your Ruaha Safari game drive to the Great Ruaha River, the lifeline of the park. Crocodiles sunned themselves on the banks, while hippos submerged themselves in the cooling waters. Elephants ambled along the river, their trunks elegantly siphoning water. The river is a hive of activity, and you will see a parade of animals come to quench their thirst.

Picnic Lunch will be served under the shade of a baobab, where you will enjoy the serene of the river at the backdrop. It is moments like these that allow you to truly appreciate the tranquility and majesty of Ruaha.

Afternoon: Exploring the Rugged Terrain

Ruaha’s landscape is diverse, ranging from savannah to wetlands to rocky escarpments. Spend the afternoon exploring these varied terrains, each offering its own unique beauty and wildlife. You will encounter kudu with their spiraled horns and a group of bateleur eagles riding the thermals above.

Your guide will share stories of the park’s conservation efforts, including the protection of the endangered African wild dog which you might be able to spot during game drive. As the sun goes down you will drive back to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
